Lottman Breaking Heads (Indirect Tensile Loading Fixtures) are compatible with Karol-Warner Marshall Load Frames, as well as other manufacturer’s Load Frames used for performing Marshall Stability load tests to evaluate moisture sensitivity in asphalt samples. These values are also referred to as Indirect Tensile (IDT) or Lottman values of asphalt mixes. Tensile strength ratio (TSR) can be determined by calculating stress levels between conditioned and unconditioned specimens.

Two models are available to accommodate 4in (102mm) or 6in (152mm) diameter samples. The 6in fixture can also be used to perform the Indirect Tensile Cracking Test (IDEAL-CT) according to ASTM D8225.
