Self-contained Basic Swell Consolidometers are used to conduct swell expansion tests on soil specimens in 2.44 (62mm) or 2.50in (63.5mm) diameters. Specimens are prepared by compacting soil into the stainless steel Compaction Rings. Compacted specimens are placed in the Consolidometer between two Porous Stones and loaded with a weight to produce a 60lb/ft² (2.87kPa) load on the sample. A Dial Indicator is set to the initial sample height and the Consolidometer is filled with water to begin the test.
Each unit is equipped with a stainless steel base with acrylic ring, specimen Compaction Ring, and a Loading Weight. Contact us for other Loading Weights. Top and bottom Porous Stones along with an adjustable Dial Indicator stand and bracket are also included. A Dial Indicator is required for the test, but purchased separately.
