Porous Stones are for use in soil lab testing to evenly distribute water through a sample. Enabling permeants to flow during testing while minimizing the fine particles within the sample from potentially entering the test system. Porous Stones are used in a variety of laboratory geotechnical soil testing applications including triaxial shear, permeability, direct shear, or consolidation.
Note: Sizes listed are actual product dimensions
These high-quality stones have a permeability range of 15-18ft³ (424-510) of air per square foot. The average pore size is 179µm. The shape is selected depending on the test being performed. Round stones are used when performing triaxial, permeability, consolidation, or direct/residual shear strength testing. Square stones are used only for testing direct/residual shear strength. Various stone thickness sizes are available, select from 0.125in (0.318mm), 0.25in (6.35mm), or 0.50in (12.7mm). Popular sizes are available from 1.000in to 6.000in (25.4mm to 152.4mm) most are available for immediate shipment. Contact us for custom sizes.
